I’m pretty sure I am way outside of the target audience for this record, and I am sure Doechii herself would be amused that someone like me would enjoy it. But I secretly love hip-hop like this. There’s something deliciously fabulous about it. Reminded me a lot of the queen of this genre, Missy Elliott. Funny, harsh, confident, no-holds barred lyrics paired with head-nodding beats and catchy tunes, it’s a joy. Most of the 19 tracks are short and sweet but that works for me. Small is beautiful. No time to waste with long intros or extended middles, these songs get straight to the point, no f***ing around. And yes, there are a lot of explicit lyrics so you won’t want to play this to your kids! Tricky to name the stand out tracks – but I’ll pick Catfish, GTFO, Nissan Altima, Skipp, Hide n Seek, and Wait, as the ones I kept going back to. Great album, 8/10.
