Baxter Dury – I Thought I Was Better Than You

I so much wanted to get into this album and some it is good – the melodies, rhythm and groove work well together – but it seems to lack a bit of grit and punch; it’s all a bit one level. I don’t mind the spoken vocals but I wanted some variation. A bit like a Margherita Pizza two slices was all I needed. I could have this album on the background but I wouldn’t really be listening to it. Favourite tracks? Tricky because they’re all kinda the same… maybe Leon and Crashes stand out a bit for me –

Gorrilaz-esque but not enough grunt.

5/10
