I love a challenge and hearing new music is what this is all about, right?
However…the first listen of this Cali electro/dance/jazz fusion duo left me thinking WTF am I supposed to be hearing here..
After a second, third, fourth listen however…Oh wait… retune the brain…this album is almost genius. For someone who loves heavy guitar based US desert/stoner rock et al this is a complete surprise. Maybe once the hypnotic rhythms get hold, or perhaps the quirky vocalisation, the tracks cease to be challenging but all embracing. Either that or I’m much younger than I feel!
Stand outs? Well, there are some filler/duds here but for me “Do Hot Girls Like Chords” and “It Will Get Real” win the day for me.
